I am interested in updating to this protein skimmer. I have not been able to find alot of information about it on this site so I will ask for some help. Is this a good skimmer and would it work well on my 30 gallon I have set up. I plan on upgrading to a larger tank at some point. thanks for any input.

here is a link to the skimmer.

I would invest in a better skimmer so you can use it when you upgrade. What size will you be upgrading to?

I will have to keep that in mind. The only thing is that I can get the red sea for around 50 bucks so it wouldn't cost as much, but yet I want it to be able to produce some good skim

the reason it is cheap is because they don't work very well. i could sell you my jebo skimmer rated for 75 gal. for 25.00 but again it is because it is just something to look at because it sucks lol. but i bought it because it was cheap when i was starting out in this hobby. but i learned cheap isn't always good.

there are good non exspencive skimmers out there just have to look around
some dont like the coral life super skimmer but my works great just have to give it time to break in and play with the settings
the only thing i dont like about it is on a hob skimmer it has to much in the main tank

I think reefs.org in there forums has a thread that evaluates skiimers, It is another great website for this hobby.

You may want to wait on the skimmer until you upgrade to your new tank. Hang on back (HOB) skimmers are usually smaller and are less effective than in-sump models of the same price. Regular water changes should keep your 30g healthy. If you decide to upgrade you can buy a skimmer that will be suited to the larger tank. If you decide not to upgrade then you can always buy a HOB skimmer at a later date.
