Skimmer?

not sure why it would need to be run through the skimmer. It's an interesting idea and I would love to hear Scott's opinion on that. I would be much more interested in wet neck or SCH. That's the big thing to me.

Even after rinsing the media he found that if he dumped the water into the skimmer first that you would get reddish foam. So thought being that he would remove the phosphate fines before they got to the tank and caused problems.

Hope that is completely right

OK, I understand. But I wouldn't do it that way. I run my reactor effluent through double fine socks. If there is red foam, what's to say that some isn't getting through the skimmer?

On the other hand, if the skimmer is super reliable, it could provide addional reaction time with the fines? Maybe!
 
Hard to say definitively, but there has been some evidence that the fines irritate corals. Perhaps someone can post links to articles?
