skimmers and controllers

Never Used a controller either.

I have Gary's Old Euro Reef Which I love, as well as a Bubble Magus NAC6 which is also very nice.

What about Reef Octopus?

I am not a big fan as they are finicky, I would much rather get a used Euro -reef for the same price. I am sure there are others that are better as well.
I am currently using a Reef Octopus.. only because it came with the tank and with my sump foot print there are not very many choices.

I also have a reef octopus and am not a huge fan. It works but it is inconvenient to adjust and clean also it is kind of loud. I have never used a controller either, I am waiting for Gary to post one on cl :)

Reef octopus nwb200. Big, loud, 3 bad pumps, good customer service(replaced two pumps), loud, big, finicky, but cheaper than most in its ability range. I should have bought a higher end skimmer used or bit the bullet and spent more on a new one. At the time it fit my budget. My 1500gph return pump makes half the noise it's does.

I have a Super Reef Octopus cone, love it. Pump is quiet, and it's not finicky at all.

My Reef Keeper was probably one of the best investments for my tank, not sure how I got along without a controller for all those years.

for some reason it won't let me click on this skimmer link. What kind of skimmer is it?

You need 50 post to see the link :)

It is a Deltec AP851 with a fairly new pump and impeller for 425.00 shipped. The Ehiem pump is 550.00 new when you go to replace it, the skimmer model has been discountinued but sold for over 1200.00 new.

I run the same skimmer on my old 300 fully stocked SPS reef and it rocked
