Hi,

I have a 350 litres aquarium and am about to buy a new skimmer. The skimmer I have now is way to loud for me since my aquarium is in my living room. I have looked at your products and been said that they should be quiet so now to my questions.

Which one is the most quiet one of "Automatic skimmer 3115/2" and "Automatic skimmer 220/3"? Are they packed with mounting brackets or are they sold separetly? Do you think I can be happy with one of theese skimmers regarding noise in my living room?

Noise is the main issue here and I want you to be honest when you answer my questions because I dont want to buy a product for 220-230euro and then not be able to use it.

And what about the constant water level? I will have the skimmer in my tank, I dont have a sump or something like that but do I need something else?

Kind regards
Sven

For in tank use the Comline models are the best. I don't think you can find a quieter skimmer made by anybody. They are very quiet. The 3115/2 should work very well, for a glass aquarium with no frames everything is included to mount it. The water level can fluctuate a couple centimeters without much issue, and really your aquarium should not fluctuate as this changes the salinity which is hard on the animals. It is easier if you have a top off system, otherwise you can just manually add water. It costs more but the best deal would be the reef pack 500. It is the 3130/2 skimmer with a mechanical filter, 1600l/h pump and auto top off system including all holders and spare cartridges and reservoir for the top off water. It will cost just under 500euro. It is a good deal because this would be just the price of the skimmer and top off (Osmolator). It is very quiet and will handle all your filter needs giving you surface skimming, a place to use carbon, a more powerful skimmer and the cpacity to do 500L so you could get a bigger aquarium someday.

One guy told me that there is definetly some noise coming from the collection cup. He said that the collection cup vibrating against the rest of the skimmer is making the noise. Can this be solved?

Cheers

I have not seen this before. I would check that the pump is correctly positioned and the impeller components properly installed. Sometiems they come loose in shipping. I would also check the cup is properly seated.

IÃ"šÃ‚´ve read that your skimmers are not that good with particulare and you should have some kind of filter taking care of this. Can this be bought separetly?

Another question about the osmomat 5024, is there some kind of filter here or what is the surface suction used for?

Kind Regards
Sven

Sven, that is why you should buy the Reefpack. It is the same price as if you buy just a reservoir, Osmomat and skimmer. Plus you get the more powerful skimmer, a mechanical filter and 1600l/h powerhead free. It is a much better price. Yes, for the Tunze skimmers the plankton safe feature eliminates the effective removal of particulate. This is generally not much of an issue as clean water maintains an ionic charge which settles particulates and unless you have wrasses and other fish which constantly stir the sand it will not be an issue in terms of water clarity but it is definitely an advantage to remove the particulate for the sake of water quality.

The thing is that I have a corner tank so the reefpack doesnt fit that well:(
