Skimmers Who Is Running What

i was thinking of upgrading skimmers this winter and was wondering what kind and brand everyone has. i have a red sea berlin i got it for nothing. i just planned on useing it until i could afford a new one.

i have heard aqua c spay injection ones are nice but they are high priced units.

I've got an Aqua C EV150 i'd sell for $100 if your interested. Works good, but would not fit in sump when I reworked it with a refugium.

Aqua Medic T5000 Shorty. It kicks butt, but is a little pricey. I don't regret spending the cash at all when I dump the collection cup, though.

i'm using a slightly modified super skimmer 65 on my small system, which works remarkably well considering the investement.

i bought a used mrc mr-2 dual beckett to use on my big system from the afore-mentioned andy cook.

I got a Deltec Turbo 1250 from the used drygoods forum. Even after the cycle, with minimal nutrients being added to the system, it continues to find stuff and suck it out.

I am running a Recirced ASM G3 w/ gatevalve mod being fed off the overflow, going to switch to a feed pump soon to make it a little easier to keep dialed in.

You need to look into octupus skimmers. They are as good as the expensive ones and alot cheaper. I think www.octupusskimmers.com is the site. You also might want to talk to chadfarmer on the St Louis boards.

Octopus NW-200. Stuck it on a 55 with no fish in it (30-day QT of my live rock is over in 4 days). I didn't clean it with vinegar just slammed it in the sump and set it. How is this for a money shot...

It has only been 8 days, but so far I'm very pleased for $189.

Berlin red sea before, up grading to deltec MCE 600 on FOWLR, if it ever gets here.

i just don't think i have the know how right now to do diy. i know how they work but as far as building one i am not sure. i realy like the asm g models. i am thinking g3 or g4 but i am not buying anything till winter so i am still resurching.
