Ok time for the skimmer ?s
1. What is a good type of skimmer to look at?
2. Can you put a larger Skimmer on a smaller tank? We Plan on upgrading to a larger tank in the future.
3. What are the Pros and Cons about skimming.
4. If we get a refgium do we still need a skimmer? Should we have both?
5. What exactly should we put in the refugium? I have read in several places that we should only put in enough live rock to come just below the water line. Is this correct? What else should go in there?
:eek1:

1. No Prizm/Red Sea. No Seaclone. No BakPak. Good skimmers include ASM, Euro-Reef, AquaC, Deltec, H&S, OctopusSkimmer (recent asian import)
2. Of course :) It is possible to "overskim" but in reality its hard.
3. Pros: reduces wastes in water before they can decompose fully. Helps maintain water quality. Cons: Requires power to run, needs some cleaning/twiddling (the better ones have less of both)
4. Yes and yes :)
5. I only put a few chunks of LR in a fuge. The rest is room for macroalgae to grow (Chaetomorpha or grape caulpera is best). They will need some lighting - but nothing like corals.
