Skimz Monzter

Has any one ever used one of these or has one? I'm wondering if they are any good?

It's Memorial Day weekend. The board gets pretty slow, so I wouldn't place too much weight on the lack of responses. Try searching "Skimz site:reefcentral.com" and see what that brings up.

great skimmer for the price. I got mine from BRS during their Holiday sale 2 years ago. Easy to clean, silent 6 way adjustable DC pump, air adjustable and valve adjustable water column. No problems whatsoever. I've heard that some of the earlier models had pump issues but none for myself. It runs a heavily stocked 180 mixed reef with a 55 gallon sump/refugium and pulls a lot of dark skim

Looking at an external model myself. The size fits good for the spot I have.

I installed the skims monster 161 , 36 hrs ago and I really like the unit so far. Nice build quality and very quiet.

12 hrs in it was already producing skimmate. This model fit my application the best due to size and I appreciate the fact that BRS will handle any issues. That became one of my deciding factors

I know I like that you can go straight to BRS as well if you have any problems. It's a bit smaller and more compact then a Reef Octopus. It's also rated higher. That kind a made me look at them.

3 days worth of skimmate, one of those days was the break in period. This thing is working well IMO.

Skimz makes awesome skimmers. I personally have used them and Reef Octopus and for the money are the 2 I always recommend. Unless you can afford a Bubble King or something crazy like that...
