Skinny tentacles

Last week I got my first bta, placed it where I was hoping it would stay. And IT Did stay, so far. It's eating good, staying in place. At first the tentacles where nice and fat, looking like it was going to bubble but now they are really skinny. Still eating, everything looks good but skinny tentacles! Is it hungry? Should I worry. I feed it small pieces of frozen scallops twice a week. Salinity 1.023, nitrate 5ppm, Ca 420,

Skinny as in just long and wavy or skinny as in not full of water and empty looking? The majority of bubble tip anemones in captivity lose their bubbles and end up looking like a long tentacle anemone. While perfectly healthy its a mystery as to WHY it happens. Its not a sign of bad health.

Now if they look deflated and empty of water that is a bad sign. But it sounds like a normal loss of bubbles. I've never had one keep bubbles long term but have had long term success keeping them.

I'd bump up your specific gravity though. 1.025 is where most people run anemone tanks. I run mine at 35ppm which is 1.026ish depending on temperature.

+1 nemmy although my anemones did the opposite.

My three BTA's had long flowing tentacles for two years under 400w MH's with T5's. Then when I switched to LEDs they went back to shorter more bulbed tentacles and have been that way for over a year.

I would also definitely raise your SG up slowly to 1.025- 1.026 area.
