I have a saebe hosted with a true percula clown.I also have a skunk cleaner shrimp that appears to be attacking thaesaebe while the clown does nothing.is the shrimp eating the saebe???

Do you spot feed your anemone? How long have you had your anemone? More details about your system always helps.

I have a 90 gallon with 30 gal sump proclear 150 skimmer nitrate 0 ammonia o ph 8.3 nitrite o weekly water change of 10 gallons. Live stock small blue tang 2 clowns 1 fairy wrasse , cleaning crew 9 hermits 8 turbos 1 Sally crab 2 skunk shrimp. Phosphates are higher than I want but of no danger to fish.2 inch sand bed of live sand 150 pounds of live rock from an established tank. I have a qt I'm thinking of putting the shrimp in but I'm still unsure. O and 2 colt coral small frags

If I remember correctly, you have had other threads about this anemone -- at one point you thought it was dead.

Things are moving way too fast in your tank, and I have a strong feeling that the shrimp is taking advantage of a super stressed anemone. Need to get the shrimp out of there, and hope that the anemone can recover.

No that was a condie that I thought was a lta . He has a new home in my friends reef tank. The saebe looks great . Cream colored with purple tips. I do appreciate the input. The anemone ate some krill today. I just thought the clown woul help it

So, wait a second, you just wait through all of that (( several threads )), and were told several times how you should slow down, and yet here we are again.

In all my years of having anemones with cleaner shrimp, the only time they have caused issues is when the anemone is stressed.

He's is eating just fine and from everything I read he would not be eating and would probably bleach out. I'm no leading authority I'm just going by what I have read. Is a foot note I am a chemist and am observing Anemones in fresh tanks. I hope to one day develop a Chem to help this process. But we first must understand.

Woah where's the fire? that's a lot of stuff for a new tank, I know you said the LR is from an established system but you still should allow for a new tank or rock transfer to settle in, especially for getting a nem...just thought I'd tell ya before someone else does...whoops looks like I'm a slow typer.

Anyway, you didn't mention your lighting what are you running? Sebaes are a higher light enjoying anemone. Could you post a picture of your nem? A lot of times sebaes are very bleached at point of purchase and will need more target feeding until they get their color back...sorry I haven't answered your question yet, I'm just saying what I wish I would have known when I bought my Sebae.

Anyway, as far as the shrimp goes, I have a skunk cleaner that would not leave my sun coral alone... IMO cleaner shrimp are lazy & food thieves :) try "spot feeding" the cleaner shrimp like half a mysis shrimp or a piece of flake food everyother day or so and I bet he will start to ignore your nem. You could also put something over your nem (depending on location &size of said nem) like one of the baskets strawberries come in (just wash it well first!) to act as a barrier against your shrimp.

Then you should set up a controlled experiment to test this out -- shocked that you aren't doing that. Not sure how you can develop a "chem" that will allow anemones to be kept in newly set up tanks. Also, if you are trying to do that, would hope that you would have more experience keeping anemones first -- as in keeping them alive for several years -- before experimenting on that. I fear that a lot of anemones are going to be lost.

It can/will take longer then a week for an anemone to bleach out, it doesn't happen over night.

Cream colored with purple tips does not sound healthy...they should be "dirty" colered with a bit of a greenish cast to the body and tentacles with purple tips.

This is a picture of mine, it had a little problem with the overflow...you can see where the injury was healing in this photo...if your guys closer to the cream color in my photo, your guy isn't happy.

EDIT: Just saw your power compact post...good luck with that kiddo, it's not going to last under those lights even with regular feedings.

OBSERVE, how do you expect someone to develop anything when nobody has a clear answer of exactly why they die. I understand the tank will have many cycle and first and foremost we want to just keep it alive.however if it dies we have equipment that we have developed with monterey bay aquarium that should tell us anything, but we have yet figured out a way to monitor with a ohm meter safely

Our second qt tank has a t5 system in it, do you think that is more suitable . That tank is well established . About a 16 months

You need to first learn how to keep an anemone alive -- again for several years. Trying your experiment/test/observation on a newly set up tank, without knowing how to keep them alive in an established tank will prove nothing.

Also, which statement is true??

From today,

Anemone is 1 week fresh in a 2 month old tank

From 6/30

hey hey reef central im candi an my husband and i set up a 90 gal with home made sump and a pro reef skimmer with 130 lbs of live rock and pc bulbs one week ago.yea

Is the tank 2 months old or just over 3 weeks?

That is a good looking anemone, mine is lighter than that and has purple tips, thanks slot you have been very helpful

Actually, that isn't a good looking H. Crispa, the tentacles are way too short and too sparse -- a sign of an anemone consuming itself for energy. The tentacles one a health H. Crispa are going to be at least 6 inches long, if not several inches longer.

Who's wife wouldn't be happy about something like this...she doesn't know what equipment we are running. I built this whole setup.what are you trying to say???
