skunk shrimp gone?

hi all - so i went away the weekend (actually got injured and took another day out there) - i was gone from friday afternoon until monday night - upon coming home everything seemed okay but my skunk shrimp is GONE - cant find a shell anywhere - what should i do? remove some coral and rock and search around? hes definately dead. =/ any ideas? i am testing nitrates now
