Skunks and Occys

Hi

Was wanting to get a pair of Skunk Clowns to go in my 4ft tank with 4 occy's that live in a Magnifica, could this work or how can i make it work?

Thanks

[welcome]

they would all fight over the magnifica

is there any chance of getting them their own magnifica?

Yes...and they would probably end up killing them. Your 4 occelaris may end up killing each other off without the skunks around...I wouldn't risk adding more clowns.

I doubt it actually, unless the skunk's are bigger, the ocellaris clown's will kill the newly introduced skunks. Likewise, soon i predict two of the ocellaris clowns are dead.

Yeah the skunk female is about the same size as the occys female, would it help if i had the Crispa with the skunks for a week or so that they get use to that? Or would they automatically go to the Magnifca?

the mag will be very inviting. i like austin think you will end up with two ocellaris anyway 4 turns to 3 and 3 turns to two.

do you have a picture of the tank?

I bought two ocellaris and an anemone from my LFS, when I got home, I noticed that there was a skunk clown in the anemone bag, he hitchhiked in the anemone, score for me because I got a free skunk, right? Nope, they did not get along at all. The skunk wouldn't let the ocellaris' anywhere near him. both the ocellaris' ended up dieing/get killed.

I didn't have much luck with it. but they were also all added at the same time.

wow looks great we dont get those over here very much

i am sure they would all fight over that magnifica

Yeah, the bummer is your mag is right in the middle.
4 clowns already, no way would I add more.
If you had just 2, and mag was on one end, and you had skunks used to hangin' in a crispa on the other end, maybe.
Big maybe though.
I wouldn't do it.
Besides, crispas get big also.

I think there might be a problem with your nem.

I have a 75g that has a mated pair of A. ocellaris and a mated pair of pink anemonefish that all get along great. I also have 2 RBTA's in the tank. The pinks host in one of the RBTA's and the ocellaris host a rock!

Not sure if that helps.

But, at some point, when the ocellaris sex, you will have a problem having 4 in the tank.

Thanks guys will probably give it a try if not then sell 2 of the occys and move the other 2 into my nano and give the skunks the Magnifica

reefallen why do you say there's something wrong with my anemone

Ryan,

I was just referring to size of tank and size that nem will get. Also, the two (three??) pairs will fight over nems... I was just thinking in terms of "harmony" in the tank with respect to size/type of nems and clowns.

The mix of pink anemonefish and ocellaris is possible since they are the two least aggressive. I have seen it done many times before and have had the 2 pairs myself for a year.

I'm sure your nem is healthy and all...

Hope that clarifies! It's hard to always get what you are thinking across! It doesn't help that I'm writing with a throbbing migraine!
