Small polyps=too much light?

For those that feel they have ever had problems with having TOO much light on their zoa/paly tanks, did you ever notice if your polyps seemed "smaller" then most other peoples? Obviously this would depend on the zoa, but in general, I am simply trying to determine if I am overlighting my tank a bit or not. Most of these zoas/palys are on the bottom (24") which is being lit by a 400W SE XM20K lamp.

My tank has a good amount of light and I haven't noticed any problems with any of my zoa's/palys doe to my lighting. I definitely don't have any problems with polyp size. How are your parameters? Are you having any salinity or alk swings?

It's true that some type of zoas become smaller when they got more lighting. But I think this can't says as too much lighting.

The too much lighting symptoms I ever found is bleaching and decrease it's size at the same time.

Some people have the under 250 or even 400 watt MH's.. I had some zoo's 3" from the water surface under a 8 bulb 432 watt T5.... no problems... as long as you slowly acclimate them starting from the sand then slowly move them up gradually...

agreed with honda man. Mine are under 400 w MH XM 20k lumenarc and I am getting ready to add 300w VHO to the equation. My tank is only 11 inches deep-good luck
