Small SPS Tanks - Let's see them!

Moving, so I gotta go smaller for a year or two. Getting some good ideas for my 50G tank though.

I am thinking a 400W radium, but am not sure whether to go with VHO or T5's. Have used URI VHO actinic since the 90's and have always been pleased. Produce more light than T5 also, but do not last as long...

250g, why are you down sizing your tank btw? You have an awesome set up that's one of my favorites.

Here's my 29g 36" tank. Used to have a bunch of rock in it then god rid of most to grow the sps out.

I figured they were somewhere around there. Looks great! It's gonna look even better once they all start to grow in to each other and cover up the plugs too! Are you going to keep the tank when you upgrade? You're clearly doing well with it!

Maybe, I can use them to quarantine or a frag tank

I can´t wait to see all my frags grow and cover the plugs

best regards

I'm a big fan of minimalist aquascaping, but ended up going with the rock wall on this tank to maximize the amount of corals I could have in the tank. In the past with the open scapes I've used, I've ran out of room for corals very quickly.

Wow! This thread has the highest consistency of really nice tanks I think I've seen in any RC tank thread - great job guys!

Any closeups of that tank? Looks really good.

Hi Dave, When is the big Moving day, And also when are you going to start selling some of your corals?
It's to bad that my tank is full, or I would be there in a heart beat.

Moving...going to a heavily stocked 50G starphire for a year or two. Will post some pics when the time comes. Looking for ideas from fellow small tank members now :)

What are the dimensions your thinking about?

I highly recommend a 67g 36"x24"x18" since I own one, I love the dimensions. The shallow height allows me to grow sps very good at the sandbed and the depth allows for a nice placement of corals.

did you put your lights in a tube? doesn't it get real hot?

they get a little warm but i woudlnt say they get hot. I'll be adding another fan onto the side of the tube in the front to get air moving through the tube, but i dont see any light increase with cooling them
