Small Squamosa Clam

Do small squamosa clams (1-2") have a high mortality rate like Maximas and Croceas? Is it because of feeding? i heard if you get a small clam you have to bowl feed them several times a week, how long would a 2" Squamosa take to grow to 3-4"? Or should i just get one that is 3-4"?

I would just stick to a 3-4 incher, the tiny ones seem to die for no reason sometimes, and its rather difficult to tell why.
