I dont think i can get a good enought piture to show, I will try but give this a shot first.

There are these striped tenicals comming out of my live rock that i have never noticed before. They kinda move like a star fish, but all I can ever see is 1-2 arms? They come out when I feed the tank. They are also in serveral locations in my tank, but always in the LR

Any ideas what this is?

Mini brittle stars. They extend arms out from LR to try to catch food drifting in the current.

Harmless/beneficial.

An essential member of the CUC. If you turn the lights on in the middle of the night you might catch a few out on the LR for a midnight stroll. I hate losing them when I'm transferring corals.

I hate when I'm not really paying attention right after pulling something from the tank. I'll be holding a large frag or some LR and then 6 huge amphipods will spazz out on my fingers. Heebeegeebies to the max.

I have one of these that is enormous. He came in on our first pieces of LR. We call him grandaddy starfish because we think he originated most of the other stars we have now. His arms stick out a good 2 inches. Recently we moved the rocks around and he moved to a spot where the current flows between 2 rocks.

You guys or gals, crack me up. I was thinking the same thing. Its not always fun to clean your tank and when you stick your hand and arm in there you never know what is going to surprise you. Gloves or not.

I have a good number of large-ish bristle worms in the tank now and I'm always double-checking rocks when I need to get in there.
