Small tank fishie help

Would a purple psudochromis and a 3 stripe damsel do well together? Considering there both kinda meanies? Would this balance eatchither out or just meaner guy kill the other?

If not the 3 stripe then what? I have to have a purple psudochromis as i am moveing him from another tank.

What size tank? Purple dottybacks can be mean toward any other fish that is territorial regarding the rockwrk, whereas fish that spend more time in the water column are tolerated better.

I have a 75 Gal tank and the purple dottyback claimed half the tank as his and relegated the 2 clowns, blue damsel (first fish), and 2 cardinals to the other side and chased everyone away from his territory. The clowns were tolerated for a short while as long as they went back to their side of the tank. I finally had to move him to a 40 with the chocolate chip star fish

I also just relocated my purple dottyback to my 40b. He was in my 90g for about 5 months. He bit the fins on all my fish and was a huge pain to catch. I'd stay away.

To the OP, trade that fish in for something else with your lfs.

Size of the aquarium is very important, as is order of introduction, tankmates, and décor/scape. They tend to do better in larger aquariums with a lot of rock, after being added later than the other fishes.

That being said, I have always found purple dottybacks (Pictichromis porphyrea) to be one of the "easier" dottybacks, and I have had one in as small as a 15g without issue, and it is now in my new 50g cube, again without issue.

As you can't gid rid of the purple psudochromis and you want to keep it with other fish I would add something that can hold it's ground.

Clowns would probably be a good choice. But then again it is dependent on your tank size. I would skip the damsels.

My experience has been the smaller the tank the more aggressive they get.
