"smaller fish" tank

I have a 55g mixed reef with a 30 g sump, feed regularly and dose vodka. Skimmer rated to 120g and about 110lbs of live rock (most in sump).

I have always liked tangs, angels, etc ( who doesn't like the bigger fish?). But I know I cannot keep any of those for an extended time without an upgrade. Of course I would like to upgrade eventually, but I don't want to buy a large free swimming fish without actually having the tank.

I want to stock my tank with nice smaller fish so when I do upgrade I can add the larger/more aggressive fish later.

My current stock:

2 1.5" paired percs
3 1" geeen chromis
1 2.5" yellow coris wrasse
1 1.5" firefish ( no more firefish they disappear in my tank)
1 2" green mandarin

I would like some suggestions on other small fish that would add variety to my tank.
I don't want any more wrasses because the mandarin needs all the pods he can get.
also ofever been a big fan of cardinal fish.

Thank you all.
