Smallest powerhead?

We have a 6 gallon Fluval Edge in need of a powerhead. I have researched the Tunze universal pump mini 5024.04 and the hydor pico evo pumps. As far as i know the Tunze is smaller but not 100% Which pump would be a good choice? We want the smallest one to keep the tank looking sleek but wanna make sure we have enough flow.
 
you looking for a in tank circulation pump or sump pump type?

i used to have a hydor pico 180 (they have a smaller model too) flow was great but it was useless to try and service the pump, as i bent the shaft the first time i used the pump and it was pretty much garbage after that...
 
Have you checked out the koralia nano powerheads? I have seen an edge with those before
 
Its for in tank circulation and ya i've looked into the koralia's i think the smallest is a 240. I just wanted something a little smaller so it didnt look so bulky in the tank. I was also unsure if 240 would be too much flow i don't want a toilet bowl effect.
 
I have a fluval edge and a rimless 6 gal. and I use them in both. The hydor Nano 240. They are good pumps.

You just need to position it so that the current bounces off the glass and spreads well or I use two and have a wavemaker for alternating flow.

I took a pic with phone so please excuse the tank looks a mess due to anemone moving around so I'm waiting for it to settle. But this is with one on the left and I have another on other side.

That doesn't look bad at all i thought it would look much bigger. I see you have a clown, how he doing? We wanted to put one in ours but in every forum people would freak out if a clown was in a tank under 30 gallons. lol.
 
Well first my clownish is small and I actually have a sump/refugium hooked up to my fluval but I believe as long as you don't over stock the tank and keep the water quality good you should be fine until the clown gets larger. As long as your livestock is happy I wouldn't worry what people say. I've seen some crazy stocked picos.

Ya most people over exaggerate everything. Our plan was to get a small one keep it in there for a while then move it over to our 110 gallon. We do not have a sump with weekly water changes we should be fine right?
 
Yea water changes all that is necessary. I just am a little overkill I think. But it doesn't hurt Lol.

I might bump mine up to 2 gallons then we were doing between a gallon and a gallon and a half. I was looking into converting the hob filter into a refugium is there any advantage to this?
 
Personally I believe there is always a benefit for sump or refugiums. I have yet to see why not.

Well we have the stock hob filter with carbon and other filter media and were curious if we took out the media and replaced it with live rock rubble and some macro algae if it would be better.
