Smallest regal tang

I just bought the smallest Regal Tang i have ever seen before. It is less then 3/4". After i accumulated it to my tank and dropped it in. It swam around for a while, then it was lights out. I did not see it for 3 days. When i came home today there it was.

Now its stomach is all shrunk in. I right away fed all my fish. I even put a piece of nory in the tank. The regal was eating everything. I did notice what looked like an abrasion on its left side cheek. Should i do anything to treat this? Medication? If so what kind? Also, are there any other special needs this fish needs?

I wouldn't worry about the abrasion, but I would worry about the ich that will more than likely show up in a few days. Quarantine is a must with tangs. Especially regals.

QT to lower stress, and allow you to feed him, competition-free.

And I'd keep him in QT until he gets bigger.

Well before i went to bed last night, with the moon light on i often peak in the tank with a dim flash light (I like to see all the critters roam around). The Regal was laying in-between my algae clip.

What is the best way to QT the regal? I dont have a QT tank, just my 125g long display.
Should i ad any kind of medication to the tank to help heal the abrasion, and prevent the ick?

as far as where your hippo is laying, they lay in crazy positions and places an that in its self is no indicator of its condition

the regal should be in a tank by its self until you get it eating good and fattened up, tiny tangs must constantly eat to recover from the capture/warehousing/shipping

Well, Its eating everything i give it, Even eating off my LR. Its even been holding its own chasing away anyone that bothers it. I think it will be fine.

since you dont have a qt have you thought of putting it in your fuge? you cant do meds while its in there but it essentually has a tank of its own for a while. i was thinking of doing this to acclimate some fish to my tank. give em a week to eat then put em in the DT. of course you might have to wait a few months so it can grow. good luck with it.
