Smart Decision???

you should test your levels of ammonia, nitrite and nitrate as well as phosphate. if you have no ammonia that's a good thing. if your nitrate or phosphate is high you should do a water change. Use RO water. although fish are not usually effected as much by higher nitrate or phosphates I personally do not add anything to my tanks if there is an issue. You should figure out what is causing the algae outbreak IMO before adding more animals. if your tank is new and you are already experiencing problems you are just asking for more frustrations in the long run and by adding more animals you can really just compound the problem.
