SMART January Meeting

Thank you for the heads up, but this is the Northwest Ohio Reefkeeping Association forum, not the smart forum. Please post meeting announcements in the appropriate forum, thank you.

So does the same apply to the previous thread for the Toledo Reef Aquarium Club? I see that they announced theirs to you all as well.

We are just trying to be friendly and extend an invite :)

Yes it does although TRAC's thread is slightly different, they invited NORA as a club to come and discuss club relationships (at least that is how I read it) Which is slightly different the announcing regular meetings.

no probs on being friendly :)

I was not aware that you now own Reef Central. When did that happen?

But seriously. I had hoped that we could be more cooperative with Dwayne stepping down as President. Am I wrong?

Some time ago I even put your logo and link on our site in an effort to be more 'friendly.'

The sole purpose for the announcement is to invite anyone that wants to attend, including NORA. We would like to be cordial, regardless of some personal differences. NORA is welcome to post NORA meetings on the SMART site, Reef Central SMART forum, or MichiganReefers SMART forum. We do not desire to be at odds and would not refuse any announcements, regardless if they are meetings, frag swaps, speakers, or any other event. Our meeting is partially a frag swap and all are welcome to attend and sell/buy for no charge.

Please accept this as our peace offering.

I am not looking for troubles, I just asked politely that is all. I assumed fo rthe folks interested in attending SMART meetings would visit the SMART website for more info. I am sorry if this simple polite reply has got you all bunched up, as it was not its intended purpose.

I would definitley not be so disrepectful as to post something on NORA's owned website without explicit permission. However, Reef Central doesn't mind users posting information that can be useful to many people.

SMART is certainly not the first non-NORA club to post a club meeting message here, neither is TRAC. I don't see how the notice could be construed as anything other than from one club to another. I didn't say anything derogatory about NORA or that people should join SMART and leave NORA.

And I don't see anyone getting bunched up and I'm kinda concerned that you would imply that to try and stoke the fires, but we are just discussing things. Remember, a difference of opinion isn't a squabble or a fight or anything else. It is simply a difference of opinion - nothing more, nothing less. This is a lesson you will have to learn if you are to regain the trust of your members.

Back to the topic -

We have fantastic discounts in the works for those who are members of SMART (you can be members in more than one club). The Board of Directors at SMART have been working very hard to bring you these discounts. In order to receive the discounts, you must join and must be issued a SMART premium member ID. This ID will have your photo and a member validation sticker on the reverse side. So be sure to contact us about becoming a member! You can send an email to: info@statelinereef.com .

You need not be a member to come to the meeting and participate in the door prizes and raffles. We would love to meet members of other local clubs.

Pat (patman on the forums) is an excellent DIYer. He did the maxi-jet mods. He is rather humble about his abilities though...

Everyone ready for the meeting? I have a feeling this is going to be the best one yet! We would love to do a meet and greet with NORA members (and see some old friends we haven't seen in a while). Everyone is welcome to come and participate!

Don't forget the Giveaways - Christmas Tree Coral, $25 gift certificate to Aqua Hobbies and more. We will also be giving away two prizes for kids ages 3+.

Also, many members are listing lots of nice frags for sale on our site for the meeeting: http://www.statelinereef.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=283

See everyone there!

We shared lots of hugs! Kendra even hugged Julie.

Check out Kendra's new puffer fish that she got at the meeting! I have not seen one like him.
