well, is it strong or week for a mantis its size? i got hit a few times from it and want to know if it will leave scars.

So I gotta ask Are you Bleeding ? It could've been trying to say feed me now. Just kidding Hutton seriously though did you want a scar from your mantis ?

Listened to Tim hammer on a glass heater for an hour earlier this week... (then, yes, I shooed him away from it when I saw what he was doing)

That said they can still split open snails and crabs, so... ;)

Ya know folks I went to the lfs the other day and saw a heater I think I 'll buy it's made out of high density plastics and is said to be indestructible it's black so i could'nt see the inside . Might be a good idea for a mantis since it does'nt have any glass parts . Just thought I'd pass that along . Yes I'll agree the chicks do dig the scars .

my smithii hasnt attacked the heater yet. does any one know exactly how powerful it is? i know G. chiagras are powerful, but what about a smithii? this is probably a question best answered by Dr. Roy

Size for size, G. smithii is less powerful than a G. chiragra or G. platysoma. They still make their living striking snaila and crabs, but then to take smaller prey for their size. That said, G. smithii have a tendency to stab more than the other species. I really don't like handling them since they seem to try to drive the dactyl spike into your finger. I've lost far more blood to G. smithii's than I have to G. chiragra.
