Size for size, G. smithii is less powerful than a G. chiragra or G. platysoma. They still make their living striking snaila and crabs, but then to take smaller prey for their size. That said, G. smithii have a tendency to stab more than the other species. I really don't like handling them since they seem to try to drive the dactyl spike into your finger. I've lost far more blood to G. smithii's than I have to G. chiragra.
