hey smith! did you ever replace the lighting and what ddi you use? Im not really fond of paying 14.99 locally for an aquarium bulb and am wondering if there are any alternatives... Ill go and look around walmart or home depot for some bulbs..

The 6500K Lights of America bulbs aren't bad. Only thing is that they do tend to get yellowish after a period of time. You can get them cheap. I'm experienced with them since I used them for Freshwater Planted tanks. They're not bad, but you'll probably end up upgrading after you've tried them out.

do you think they'll last about 2 months? I wont mind replacing them around 1 -2 months

They should. Just keep an eye out on them. I had mine for a 2.5G planted nano and it did great. Especially on the algae side.

But as far as the K's go, you'll see a drop off when you break them in.

Save your money and get a nice fixture. For a 10G tank you do have lots of options. Much better than spending $15 here and there onbulbs.

I was using 1 of those 10watt coralife bulbs on a 5 gallon holding tank and it seemed to be a really good light. The polyps loved it and the tank seemed to do ok with it.
