Smooth-On Overflow Cover

Buckets and powder run $120.00. I could just as well glue some dry rock onto a overflow using silicone.

looks pretty good, but i imagine those big buckets of epoxy putty are very expensive.

I don't think you are in the right hobby.. lol

Yeah the 2 gallons is about $125 and the powder another $10.. . I think its worth it. Imma order a 35g deep blue tank with a corner overflow.. then I'll cover it with this stuff.

Maybe make holes for frag plugs too!

I'll keep updated.

get real reef rock from caribsea and and glue with silicone it will be easier and about the same cost but looks much better imo

I would do that. But I'm concerned with how much space I waste. If I use this I can build a wall about 1/4" thick and stamp it..

Reef Rock will be way thicker and will take space in the tank.

I got the tank, Man these Deep Blue professional overflows are terrible. For so much money, and a tank so well build, and they cut corners with the overflow.. Its a lil disappointing.

ordering a Deep Blue tank and calling me a cheapskate... my point is that you can do much better for the money.

Haha,, I didn't call you a cheapskate... I meant everything in this freakin hobby is expensive.

You think deepblue tanks are crap? What do you recommend?

I was thinking of the NEO tank.. any experience with that one?

I did something similar to this a year ago only I used insulation foam ans rock.

Marco rock sells sliced rock now as well that could be used...

Here's a quick shot. There are arches that come off the wall to the rock island in the middle ( hard to see in the pic) I just drilled holes in the foam and used acrylic rods to secure the arches.

I did it with concrete and created ledges

Yes. I made it with eggcrate and PVC structure that hangs on the lip. Then I covered it with concrete impregnated cloth (terri cloth or gauze). I used a very light mix with aragonite sand, crushed oyster and white pumice (all heavily prewashed). Check out my build thread for the pictures.
