Smoothdog's 150DD build

Very nice, Kirk! Definitely makes me more motivated to start up my tank. Lol

How is your coral doing so far? Is there any cycling or anything yet?

Nick

Everything seems happy so far. All of the new rock was given an acid bath and power washed so hopefully contamination was minimal. I'm seeing a little cayno on some of the new rock but so far nothing major.

Added more stuff to the tank from downstairs. Still have some zoas and lps I need to figure out where to put.

I didn't like the way the leds were so low over the tank. You could see a little color separation between the whites and blues. So I built some bracket with some acrylic I had laying around and raised them to the top of the hood. Now the lighting is much more even, but I need to make a little strip to add to the top of the hood to hide them.

Did you have all the rock that is in your display down in your sump while you were building the dt?

Nope, most of what's in the display is new dry rock that was acid washed and power washed before going in, that's why it's so white. The stuff with color is what came out of the tanks downstairs that had coral growing on it.

So I saw the tank in person (thanks for the chaeto Kirk!) and pics do NOT do it justice. It is a beautiful tank with first class craftsmanship. I am officially jealous. Now, who wants to help me steal it?

I too was lucky to see this tank in person and the awesome pics do no justice. This tank is a must see in person. Awesome craftsmanship and very well planned. Great job smoothdog
