Snail acclimation question

Hi everyone

as the title states, I've got a question regarding the acclimation of snails. I picked up a couple of turbo snails and a bumblebee snail yesterday for my newly cycled Evolve8. I was planning on the purchase, as I wanted to test out drip acclimation on something a little less expensive (first foray into SW, coming over from FW planted). Before going to the LFS, I grabbed some airline tubing and a three-way valve to use for the drip. It worked pretty well, if a bit inconsistent. I was getting 2-4 drips per second. I used a heavily rinsed out empty milk jug (trust me, it was rinsed for five minutes) that I had cut the top off of as my holding area for them. Dripped for about 90 minutes, and then just dumped them in. I didn't realize until later how cool the milk jug water had gotten. For future reference, I was wondering if using the drip method again would be okay, but then adding one more acclimation step in at the end. Should I put the water and inhabitants back in the bag after I've balanced out the salinity/pH/etc and do the old school float tactic to balance out the temperatures?

For the record, the snails were moving around last night while I slept, and one is currently poking around the front of the glass. Other two haven't moved much since I cut the lights on (no timer until I get a new light) and the emerald crab I bought was moving around the front of the tank. He has since retreated into some hiding spot he found in the live rock.

He'll probably be fine. I have a couple of my turbo snails in my 90 and it seems like they don't move at all during lights on. When the lights go out, however, they are all over the place.

As far as acclimation... I check the salinity and if it is close, I just temp acclimate and in they go.

I never acclimate them. Just pop them in...

Thanks for the responses. As they were the first inhabitants to the tank I felt they should get a royal welcome, I guess :lol2:

As you drip acclimate it should be the same temp as your tank so I wouldn't worry about your CUC, they'll be fine. Side not my Emerald used to be active when I first added him with lights on but now he only comes out once lights are out.
