Snail growth?

Hello all,

My 135g has been running for about 2 months now & I've started noticing newly clean areas on my snails. I think this is growth but I want to be certain that it's not deterioration (for lack of iodine etc...)

Here's a pic:

They've been eating a LOT of brown algae off the glass lately so it wouldn't surprise me if they needed to grow.

This growth always seems to be on the mouth side of the shell.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

that is most definitely new growth. and as long as you do regular water changes you dont need to add iodine.Iodine is found in very small amounts in natral see water, and plants and animals do need it but you dont need to add it.i have a 500g system 13 clams,SPS,LPS and softies,i never add iodine and you will read that xenia need iodine to thrive.i sell $200 worth of xenia a month

That is a load of Xenia!!!

Glad to hear it's growth on the snails... I do a 10g change twice per week so I won't add iodine.

btw, what water parameters (& other factors) do you use to get that xenia to grow like a weed?
