Snail I. D.?

Snail I. D.?

If they are going after your turbo snail ,what do they do when they catch it? I would get rid of them if they eat other snails...:hmm3:

Snail I.D.?

They must be meat eaters. Get rid of them... Haven"t got any idea of what they could be.Happy snail hunting!!!!:fun2:

they are marginella snails. yes meat eaters. sorta like nassarius snails. i have a bunch in my tank as a sand sifter. mine come out a lot to eat food scraps. (i overfeed so my inverts dont go after eachother)

They are marginellids, in the genus Volvarina. There are several species with the white bands, but they all behave similarly. They can function as both scavengers and predators, and may attack and kill other small animals...although I've never seen them succeed at killing something so large as a Turbo. That was probably their goal, though, unless it was dying and they could sense it. They usually aren't much trouble in tanks, but a bunch of them could eat a lot of your tiny critters.
