I have one of these guys in my tank , and i got lucky and currently he is in a bucket, should i keep him? i dont notice any problems other than he knocks everything over in his way and is almost impossible to get off a rock lol.??
ok.. so i know its a limpet ( Opihi ) people love to eat them, they graze on algae, but i guess all I am concerned about is , does he feed on my coralline algae?
I was about to say that's a Hawaiian endemic, but I see you already know that. You also probably know that they normally live right at, or just above or below, the high tide line, and feed on the algae that grows on the rocks. That's often out of the water, where there's no coralline growth. SO... my guess is that coralline is not one of the normal things it eats, so it probably wouldn't be a major part of its diet in a reef tank. Let us know if I'm wrong
