Snail (ID) SE/FL

[Versus]

Tidal snail, wasnt sure if they were molted dog whelks or something else. They were in mud flats (been a week and no loses)

Not sure if they are whelks or something else. Or even reef safe for that matter. If not I have garlic and butter awaiting them.

They're Melongena corona, or "Crown Conchs." They aren't true conchs at all, but are related to the whelks. Pretty effective predators on other molluscs, so much so that they will probably kill any other snails and maybe clams that you put in the tank. Cool snails for a species tank, though.
