If Blue Legs are known to eat snails, shouldn't you buy a lot more snails to make sure your blue legs are well fed?
Where did the rule of thumb come that you should have 1 blue leg per gallon?
I recently rescued 3 blue legs from the local petco that was closing it's saltwater section and I felt sorry for them and didn't want them to be tossed in the trash. They have paid me back by killing at least 2 snails that I know of.
If you're wonder that maybe I have too many blue legs, we're talking about 2 hermits in an 80 gallon tank. After the last attack, I banished one of them to another tank that doesn't have any live snails.
If you want to buy a hermit, I'd recommend the red legs. Again, just like Trochus vs Astraea, you get what you pay for.

TeacherMark will decide on whether to add AllenHa (sf), Nasotang (sm). He previously indicated that he didn't want to take any more orders.
I'll also contact craazyreefer to see whether its better to go forward ordering from keys or to go through him...

Lego, when you ask about the price break @ $500 all the prices of things are going to drop, and you won't be at $500 any more. You need to be at the $500 after the discounts. If you get to that point, just add to peoles order to get you there, because you are paying $500 anyways. It is all free at that point.. kinda.

ok I think i should back off some of my blue legs. take off 25 blue legs and add 6 scarlet.

Lord Helmet, I reduced your blue legs by 25 and added 6 scarlets. But I have you down for 4 emerald crabs too. Do you not want those any more (you didn't list them in your totals above)?
I assume you are picking up your friend's order with yours and it won't impact TeacherMark, if so, then it shouldn't be a problem. We can treat it as an addition to your order to keep things simple if need be... (less people to collect from, less stuff to count out)

Unless the discounts are enormous, we should be over $500...
I'm looking at the prices of stuff and alternatives too.
Depending on the shipping costs, it may make sense to just order 2 free shipping packages to cover 80% of the order and then rest at the normal bulk prices and pay for shipping... i.e. Package 1 and 3 would cost $310 (free shipping, free box) and cover 200 astrea, and 500 cerith/blue legs, 6 cucumbers, and 6 brittle stars.
The above will only work if they ship everything at the same time.
I'll do the math once I hear from keyscritters on shipping and discounts for which way to order will save us all the most money... Regardless of the way things are ordered, shipping will be split up proportionally among the whole order - that way we all save money and no one gets screwed...

No the blue leg hermits are small, I've had blue legs for years and haven't had my tank become a killing field...
People seem to be getting parraniod. Blue leg crabs are very popular - they wouldn't be if they were such awful creatures... Yes like all hermit crabs they may "steal" shells, but the small ones wont be big enough to do that for some time...

i have abou 10 to 15 blue legs in my tank and have had 2 scarletts in my tank for about 9months with no problems. blue legs do get in wrestling matches for days though. other then that i will always have some.
