I have this big problem of snails in my Saltwater Aquarium, it looks more like a snail tank and less of a fish tank :D. Its a FOWLR type of setup. I have 3 Fish in the tank as of now. A pair of Nemo & a yellow tail damsel.

So now about my problem. I have a major outbreak of snails in my tank. I am attaching few photos please help me identify the type of snail. I want to get rid of these snails. There should be more than 500 small snails in my tank now. Please suggest me some fish which would eat these snails (should not bother existing fishes) or some way of getting rid of them

The snails are Littorinas, either Littoraria or Echinolittorina species. They are vegetarian, so they really shouldn't hurt anything? They'd normally live on rocks in the splash zone or on mangroves.

IME a 'snail outbreak' only occurs when there is a sudden abundance of food, eg after a tank crash when micro algae takes hold. If these are herbivores they will become self limiting as the food supply runs out; so theres no need for a predator IMO.

Yes, they are there because you are giving them a lot of food to grow on. So either start doing better maint and taking out a lot of theur food source, or remove a ton then have an algae explosion really.

Nothing wrong with billions of snails.

Thanx For the reply guys.

@rssjsb : The tank is going to be a fish only with live rock. No future plans for the tank.

@pagojoe & suta4242 : These snails are not hurting any thing but i dont like to see 10 tiny snails on the glass always.

Cleaner wrasse or Banana wrasse would solve the problem ?
