I have assumed that these are Cerith snails, but I am not sure of the specific variety. In any case, I have now had two hatches of baby snails over the last couple months and I now have well over a hundred of these in my tank perhaps many more if they are living in the sand bed. Can someone confirm they are Cerith? This is a picture of the first hatch. The most recent hatch snails are about half this size.
I have read that it is difficult to tank raise them but I haven't done anything, they are just appearing. I haven't even seen any egg trails so I am not sure where the eggs are being laid and why the fish aren't eating them.
Assuming they are Cerith, I will see if my LFS will take some of them in trade for some credit. Otherwise I fear my 90 gal tank will not support this many and I will have them dying by the dozens. Has anyone else had this happen?
