snail question

I noticed a while back that I had pyramid snails but I had PC lights and did not plan to upgrade so a clam was the furthest thing from my mind. As of tonight I should have my hood built and my new 250W MH in place.

Now that I have the lighting, I would like to add a few clams. I want to wait a few months because I have a feeling things are going to be changing quite a bit with my new lighting upgrade and I want my tank as stable as possible.

These pyramid snails that are in my tank are obviously not feeding on any clams since I have none. Are they a different type of snail or are the same ones that could destroy a clam. If so should I purchase a six line and let him clean up the snail before I purchase a clam or is there other options.

I have a ton of these snails btw.

Thanks

there are over 1000 different types of pyrams and what you have may not even be pyrams. i would wait for your tank to stabilize after the lighting change then add a clam and keep a close eye on it .

Thanks, with this hobby it seems like there are 1000s of different species of just about everything so that is kind of what I figured with the snails.
