snails and raptoral appendages

my n. wennerae is eating strombus grazers and an assortment of thawed shrimp. the strombus grazer's shell is not very thick, they're very similar in size to a nassarius snail.

is it the thickness of the snail's shell that will help maintain the strength (and need) for the raptoral appendages? or will it be maintained as long as they use them?

Hiya. Is your mantis doing any tunneling? That also gives the raptorial appendages some use.

he does do some tunneling in one rock, but not as much as of late. i think he might be satisfied with his burrow and instead is concentrating on digging a trench system in the CC around the LR.

It is primarily exercise that is important. The only animals that we see that really get into trouble are those that are fed totally on soft foods and rarely if ever strike.
