Snails & hermit crabs

I'm not sure if I'm seeing things or not but will a hermit crab take over a snails shell? Seems that some of my hermits have different shells. I'm not sure if the crabs are killing the snails or the snails died and they are just taking the shell. It's very interesting to watch them at work.

Of you have no empty shells they will kill them for the shell. I keep a bunch of empty shells in the bottom

Thats where hermit crabs get shells from. If a crab has money or a pension he can buy a new shell in one of those shell stores, :lmao: but most of them find shells. If he can't find one, he will kill the snail and take the shell. You should have an assortment of shells around for it. And when the crab sheds it gets surprisingly larger so you need bigger shells.
