i have one turbo snail that likes to leave the water and crawl down the back of the tank. anyone else have this problem? is this normal ?

Yeah, I've had several that attempt to escape. Heck, I've got several that live in the skimmer. I would say it's "normal" if that's what you want to call it. Doesn't necessarily happen often but it does happen.

thanks ! I guess i got a rouge snail. the first thing i did is check my water peramiters and everthing was good to go ! it keeps doing this every night. maby he's sleep walkin:D
see ya! harold

I found a dead snail on the floor once. I just assumed my son pulled it out and it never made it back in. I must of had an escapeee. He won't do that no more :p

I have a number that sometimes hang 100% out of the water, but they can't get far since there is a lip. I've never had one really make a run for it down the outside glass.

VoidRaven,
be careful of snails in your skimmer I had a little one (snail) get lodged in the needlewheel and inlet and shredded the impellerof my skimmer.
Wife couldn't figure out what that growling noise was.
Not a productive skimming day that's for sure:(

Haven't had the problem since changing over to a grravity feed skimmer design:D

radone....eh, they're in the body of my Aqua C Remora....not doing any harm. I clean out the injector pretty frequently too so I'm not worried about them causing problems. They just bop around in there with the tube worms that are also growing inside the skimmer body.

Nonetheless, point well taken. Never thought about them doing that much damage if they get into the wrong spot.
