Snails On Clam?

I have noticed a few small snails on one of my clams. I know some snails are harmful to clams, while others are not. How can I tell the difference?

get rid of them, I don't think any snails on my clams are good. after you remove them, Iwould suggest a freshwater dip to make sure you're clear.

I have about seven clams in my system. Four croceas two maximas and a gigas. The snails don't bother the croceas but the maximas and gigas are covered. Do they not like croceas?

a FWD wont kill the snails and will only stress the clam more then it already is. a few weeks of manual removal is the best way to get rid of them.

Agreed on the manual removal, I'm a big supporter of FWD because it's worked for me in the past and present but you're right, manual removal would probably be the best option. when I had a problem with snails, the FWD actually made most of them release and fall into the water my clam was stressed for a little while(3 maybe 4 days) but came back nicely.

Don't the 6 line wrasse eat them?

wrasses will only control them at best. these snails feed at night, wrasses sleep at night
