I have been noticing a ton of new small snails in my sump. I do not know where they come from. They have shells the same shape as a Astrea. It's conical and some are red striped.
Are these good or bad. Take them out and throw away or put in tank?
they likely hitchhiked in on a piece of rock or somthing similar and then found their way down into the sump where they bred or could just be more easily noticable there than in your display.
as for the ID im not very experienced with snails so i cant help but a picture may help others to identify them
A pic would help, but...all of the small snails with red markings are reef safe, as far as I know. They are most likely either turbinids or trochids, both of which are nice algae eaters.
