Snapping noise

It looks like I have a Pistol shrimp or a Mantis shrimp in my tank, been hearing a snapping noise for a while. It's getting louder and more frequent, and my razor wrasse is out a lot more lately, so I think it's a Mantis.
What's the best way to catch it, trap?

I tried traps and had no luck...I finally saw what rock the Mantis was in (he poked his head out at the wrong moment) and I grabed the rock...... as soon as it hit the surface he droped out.
Well after maybe 4 tries he stayed on the rock to long and he was out. So have fun they are smart.

I thought I had a pistol too....I would hear these loud snaps at least once a day if not more.

what would happen of you left a manitis in until he got bigger, I think I have one but cant see it and with close to 300lbs of lr it would be a pain in the arse to get it out, Im hoping he gets bigger than maybe I can see where hes at to catch him

Alot of this Mantis hitchikers are sm. variety no less than 2" max. Kind da irritating some times but for yrs. that I had him in my tank I just dont bother anymore, 6yrs to be exact. I did not lost any livestock like what others claimed to be. I n the Orient we eat Mantis 6 to 10",taste good too. PEACE

Menard, how do you season/marinate them?
Sully, no need to do all that. Fire up the grill ,when its done squirt some lemon. Man, taste like Lobster.I tell you what else they eat there we normaly keep in our tanks. Heres afew example.Scopas Tang size of a dinner plate, Lunare wrasse over a foot size, Bat fish, Tridacna Clams ,oh yes this beauty, Parrot fish. I could go on . And the bottom line is all good. cant wait to go visit again in the near future.:p

If I didn't just have Sushi for dinner and wasn't about to bust at the seams you guys would be making me hungry!

I have to admit my giant coral banded shrimp is starting to look tasty I've thought about dropping a hook in my tank a few times...:D
