I went by Max of Mermaid Aquarium's warehouse today and took a sneek preview of the zero edge tank he had built for the WMC. This is definitly a work of art and worth every penny. I can't wait to see how his boys do it up plumbing wise.

Powder coated frame to boot :D

For those that aren't familiar with zero edge tanks, here's a pic of how it works. The water is pumped in at a super high rate thru these 4 returns. They have to be on the bottom as to deflect any surface agitation. Then water then sheets over all for sides evenly. Of course great care has to be taken to get it 100% level.

Gresham,

That's going to be one nice looking dispay tank! Do you know if he is going to be selling things at the WMC?

BTW - I heard that he donated a 130 gallon tank (with canopy and stand) to the WMC raffle. I have seen the canopy and stand, and they are a piece of art!

Max will be selling both dry and wet stuff :D My jaw dropped when he said what he's bringing. Let's just say, it ain't going in a little truck :D

Ditto! I plan on brining a BIG ice chest as well. Between the vendors selling and the tons of raffles, it's going to be interesting! I am already predicting that I will make back in raffle prizes what I paid for the registration.

BTW - the last day to register online is coming up. I think the cutoff date is April 15th. After April 15th - there will be no more online registration - only onsite registration. You won't get any meals with the onsite registration. So if you haven't registered, you'd better.

I still don't get why it's called zero edge, and I'm assuming there's either 4 check valves or 1 big check valve?

I'll try again then :D

Yes, it'll have a large one-way valve.

There's no edges on the tank, it looks like a glass cube when filled. No surface agitiation, ripples, etc. Think glass box, all 6 sides. Since the water sheets over the sides nearly perfectly, you can't tell that the water is even flowing out of the tank.

You could always come see for yourself :D

Hey Gresham,

Would you by chance have a picture of the 130G/canopy/stand that Mermaid Aquarium has generously donated to the Western Marine Conference's raffle? I know that Mermaid Aquaium have top of the line canopy and stand.

Bingo. This is a look down display tank ;) All the above get in the way of viewing. Ideal clam display tank, or coral sales tank, which it is.

I'll see what I can do.

Yoshiod - WOW! That is gorgeous. I love those clams!

Gresham - when Max is done with that tank, is he going to use it as a display tank in his store?
