Im goin to Cozumel,Mexico next month and was wondering if there was any good snorkeling there?? Im dying to see underneath and maybe next year sometime hit the Bahamas.

In Cozumel go to Chankanaab Park for snorkeling.

If you make it to the Bahamas Stuart Cove is a must.

There is some very good snorkeling around Cozumel. We went a few years back. It was very clear and there were alot of fish and corals. We went with a local company that takes tourists out to several spots.

Cozumel has some good shore snorkeling too. We stayed at the Coral Princess (north of town) and right off their dock is some awesome stuff. Excellent vis and lots of rays, tropicals, and eels. We snorkeled for hours up and down the shoreline. There can be quite a bit of a current, so pay attention and ask the dive shop on premises they can tell you which way the current usually goes and where to get in/out at. have fun. I'm jealous.

Sept will be HOT and humid so you will probably spend lots of time in the water (that's what I do in Sept there). The snorkeling charters take you to some nice areas but the shore snorkeling is good too. You do have to be wary of boats and currents so ask at the hotel dive shop for good spots. Here's another vote for Chankanaab park, it is a good place to snorkel.
If you're staying north of town, the Melia to the Coral Princess is good shore snorkeling.

Jan Feb March can be rough water and when a Northern wind blows through it can close the harbour to small boats but that is when the eagle rays are around so it is worth it to see them. Also if you can take the ferry to the mainland you can still dive the cenotes when the small boat harbour is closed.

I was there last December around Christmas and spent 5 days snorkeling. We hit Chankanaab the first day it was good but pricey (there was an entrance fee). I really enjoyed the Money Bar. We also checked out Playa Palancar Beach and was quite surprised finding a nice patch reef in 3' water to the south of the restaurant (Good for children). Our last day there we hired a charter to take us snorkeling at Palancar reef.
