Snowflake Clowns' First Spawn

Awesome, just read this and I'll be following along now as I'd like to learn how to hatch some clowns of my own. I have 2 fancy percs now that seem to be in the pairing up process after I got them about 2 months ago.

Great Pics also! Can't get enough of them!

1 question, how did you get them to lay on the pot? Did you just place it where they normally spawn and hope that they would spawn on it?

Also, have you done anything extra to entice their spawning together?

Thanks,
-AC

that crab gives me the creeps.....

looks like it's got two clown fry eggs as eyes....:fun5:

I just put the pot into the tank next to their nem. That's all it took!

Nothing extra, they just started a few months ago.

Good luck!

Sure, here's from today. Day 5

I think hatch will be either tomorrow night, or the next comparing the pics to similar stages of development from last time.

One of my favorite threads.. Always looking forward to the daily macro shots.. Excited to see your photos during the rearing process. Good luck!

So suspensful.. You finally have a spawn to raise and you leave us in the dark.. :(

*edit.. I though you were expecting the spawn last night, until I re-read.. :)

lol, I moved them to the rearing tank last night, but they didn't hatch. My son went in the kitchen and turned on the light, so I think it set them back a night. Only in my house would my 8 year old hear "Don't turn on the lights! Get your snack in the dark, you're disrupting the clownfish eggs!!"

Hoping for tonight! It has to be tonight, they're ready to burst!! :) I'm going to wait until all children are in bed before turning out the clown lights.

Babies are hatching, and I desperately want to take pictures, but I'm afraid I'll screw them all up if I do. Not that it really matters, because my roti culture crashed today because of the heat (102 in san diego, and we don't have air conditioning)...so I put some frozen rotis in there as a Hail Mary. Not that it will work.

They should be able to survive for 2 days on their egg yolk and give you time to find someome locally with some rots. Call Reeds, they are in Cali too and can get you some Rotifers in 1 day. Let us know how many hatched out for you. Good luck!

Alright, uncross those fingers Tanya. Sadness eggs. :( Only a few hatched last night, and the rest died. I think either:

1) It was too hot
2) I pulled them too early and the didn't get enough oxygenation (although I did have an air stone)
3) My husband turned on the kitchen light, and aborted the hatching, and...?

The ones that did hatch died. So, instead of baby pics, you get to see nassarius eating egg pics. :(
