I have to say that I hate to see this. If you have an animal under your care remember you picked him, he didn't pick to be in your tank. There is responsibility for owning an animal. Instead of I will sell him or he gets the flush, try to sell him and if you can't, bring him to the local fish store and see if they will find him a good home. A lot of people would be happy to have an aggressive eatting eel.
Now you did offer him for sale which is cool

Thanks for the talk al....I wouldn't flush him that's wrong....I was just mad....luckily he will be getting a nice home with the martinfamily.....

We all make impulse buys, especially when we are new. I bought a little catalina goby a couple years ago because I thought I knew what I was doing and I knew that no boy would out grow my aquarium or eat my other fish. Well he didn't out grow or get too big he just died because I couldn't offer the sub-tropical environment they needed.

This is the age of the internet if there is something you see that you must have, do some research. You should have known the eel was going to eat smaller fish and not planned on keeping any smaller fish in the tank. In the future make sure to know what niche the fish they occupy before purchasing. 99% of the fish you see in all of the stores in Delaware will make reappearance in the stores, so you should be in no rush.

Like my thing down below this says we are all learning. Perhaps it is time for you to come up with a fish plan and decide what you would like to work towards keeping in the future and when you will add it. This can be motivation as well to keep up with the maintance and to look forward to adding that next animal when the time is right and you find a healthy one in your LFS.

Yeah, part of the problem is that some of the most colorful or exotic looking fish and things are the reef predators that are few and far between in the wild. Unfortunately we have very small reef tanks, and no room for the "PREY" to hide or escape in. Therefore reef tank critters should be reef freindly, IE they don't eat corals or other fish, and are happy cohabitants. That is the secret. find the right mix of fish.

Or keep a predator tank with only one or two fish. Giving each other the hairy eyeball every minute of the day.

Sometimes, you just change your mind. That's okay. In the post where I asked what everyone's oldest fish was, the oldest was maybe five years (if I remember right). So either everyone changes their mind sometimes, or everone makes poor decisions about tankmates, or everyone's maintenance leaves something to be desired. Otherwise, we would all still have every fish we ever bought. That isn't the case. Don't feel bad, you just decided to go a different route. Everyone does at some point.

it was nice to meet u glenn...srry i had to kick ya out so soon...me and the guys were starving...long day.....i look forward to seeing ur tanks and getting some frags!!!

It's sad that i've had my tank for about 2months and only have a juv. Ocellaris. I know about letting my tank "cycle" after adding a fish but it's kinda sad that the fish i want are scarce atm.

Yellow tang
B&W Misbar Ocellaris (TFP has one but im waiting till Monday to order)
Black Cap Basslet

and thats it for my 55g till i get my 90g up...

yes it was nice to meet you as well. the eel is already rating and is content in hiss 55 gallon home. as i mentioned tonight i will call you before my next road trip. will be in week or two.
