so... did my profilux get damaged in shipping?

i just got a chance to hook up my profilux and i get nothing. i plugged it in and all the lights on the unit come on, but there is nothing on the display. the top half of the display shows black bars and the bottom half is blank. none of the buttons seem to respond either. i cant really find anything in the manual that says what should happen when you first plug the unit in, but im assuming this isnt right. hopefully im wrong. i wouldnt be surprised if it was broke though with the way the fedex guy dropped the box right in front of me--intentionally.

well, i unplugged it and plugged it back in and now it seems to be working---i think. does that seem normal?

If you plug the profilux in Live i.e have power applied to the adapter first then plug into the ProfiLux, yes you can get this, it is called safe mode as it has been spiked.

Turn off or unplug at the wall and plug back in at the wall and it will be fine.

However if it keeps doing it, and as you say been dropped then that is a different matter, but I have my doubts any damage has been done, just spiked by DC current flashing.

Treat the profiLux just like you would a PC, dont turn on and off too often, keep out of moisture, and apply power once the DC plug has been inserted.

when you say "apply power once the dc plug has been inserted", do you mean plug it into a power strip or something that has been switched off and then switch it on once the controller is plugged in?

No just plug the adapter lead into the wall, there is no need to plug the ProfiLux power into a power strip, unless you are out of reach from a wall socket.

NEVER plug the Profilux into a power socket on a GHL power bar

ok, and when you plug in different items, (ex powerbar, probes,sensors,tunzes, etc) does it matter if the unit is on or off?

no, just makes sure you only plug the digital power bar into S1-4

Nothing goes into S sockets other than power bars and dosers
