So I added a filter sock....

I added a filter sock to help with micro bubbles in my sump (10g) underneath my 37 cube. After I installed the sock, my skimmer started going crazy, which means there ar more bubbles in the tank than usual. The skimmer is a CSS 65 and is in the sump. Will the skimmer ever calm down?

How long has the skimmer been running and what did you put in the filter sock?? I have a Coralife super skimmer 65 and it goes crazy if anything gets in the water. It should eventually calm down but it could take some time.

I've been using the skimmer for at least 7-8 months. I didn't put anything in the filter sock. I think they are typically made out of polyester, which can make skimmers go crazy for some reason..kinda like epoxy does when adding to the tank. I'm just wondering if anyone else has experience with this situation.

It always happens to me on those occasions when I put a filter sock in. I just turn the skimmer off for a bit. It's usually fine after an hour or so.

It happened to me when I first added a new sock, I always rinse the new socks well in the sink first and then the skimmer wont go nuts anymore

Well, I turned off the skimmer for a bit and just now turned it back on. Needless to say, the bubbles are still going crazy, but the lights are off, so it doesn't really matter.

Thanks for the help everyone.
