So i bought 3 diff packets of mysis algae

I also bought the other stuff for the baby clwon to eat.

The baby clown doesnt seem to eat regular flakes yet.

Also my anemonies are new one already looks like it is bleaching.

I removed 5 gallons of water and added back in that comercial ocean water just to make sure the water has all the minerals it needs.

I also removed the carbon filter and in its place I used the nano balls.


I then started to poke around in the sand and created a sand storm which I tried to keep at a minimum to release all the bubbles.

The store told me since I have 2 inches of sand that bubbles will form and the sand will turn to rock and if i never break it and one day if it does break then the CO2 will kill everything in the tank...

So my next step is to remove some sand to acceptable levels.

you mean mysis shrimp right? how baby are your clowns? and what kind of clowns?

2" of sand should be fine...get a strawberry conch and some nassarius snails...you should never have hard sand...

hard sand is likely a chemical problem...not a depth problem....

your sand will harden/ calcify when your magnesium is low and your calcium precips out and binds to the sand grains...check your Magnesium...aim for 1350ppm...check you calcium isnt above 450ish and make sure your alk is balanced to whatever ou keep your calcium at..

you should be more worried about hydrogen sulfide building up in the sand then i would CO2...your sand should be bubbling...that is the final step to the nitrogen cycle...and the bubbles are harmless...(ammonia to nitrite to nitrate to nitrogen gas.) algae will also produce bubbles in your tank too...those bubbles will be O2 though. again pretty much harmless.

what kind of lights are over your tank? what kind of anemone do you have? how did you acclimate them?

I have a skimmer and a 305 fluval
I have about 4 or 5 live rock.
I use sponge, bio balls, phosphate remover in the 305.
My lighting is the Nova extreme.
