So I had this tube worm...

Hi Everybody. On Saturday I filled my tank. I am about 1000% certain that I killed everything that could have possibly still been living on my dry rock before placement in the DT. As such, I bought about 5 lbs of live rock from the lfs to put in the fuge, and get a little jump on life in the tank. Today I got home and flipped on the light and I find this poor little guy, apparently decapitated and floating around in the DT. Is it possible for him/her to latch on to a rock and continue to live? Or did he just help my ammonia spike? I have a Cobalt 600 in the fuge, 13 gallons, too much flow? Other critters seem to be loving it.

Is the whole worm or just the crown? Feather dusters will often shed their crown when stressed out and should grow it back. If it is the whole worm then as long as it doesn't get sucked into a powerhead or the filter it should settle back in somewhere and create a new tube.

Hi eastlake. Yes, it appears to be just the crown. The ride it took went from the overflow of my fuge into the sump, through the pump/pipes back to the DT. Right after I took that pic, it disappeared behind some rock and I have not seen it since. I hope it was just the crown, and that the body is growing a new crown and still in the fuge!
