So it continues...

Well, I woke up this morning to discover that I have a mantis shrimp. I should say, at least one. I actually saw the sucker just hanging out in a hole in a rock.

I guess it'll be fine for now, but at some point I'm going to probably need to try to relocate it to the sump.

yeah that would be a good idea..

when I get my TBS rock I am going to separate in to 2 maybe 3 tanks and go through eat rock a few times. the tank is in my bedroom so I really want to get all the noisy guys out.

the 2:1 rock in the man made stuff from fiji the aquacultered in the gulf. prob. is.. some good looking rock and gorgs and sponges you have there.

one think you might want to look in to for the sponges in the zevolt sponge power food. I have no personal experience with it but i did pick up a bottle. one i;l get thinking rolling i;ll let you know.

Oh, then yes, I think some of it definitely is. I think there's a mix though, because there appears to be two different sites of rock in the mix. I know I love the rock though for sure, and I'm not sure I'm upset about the mantis. If he's a smasher and leaves fish and coral alone he can stay. I don't mind replacing the cuc occasionally.

And it's in the living room and dining room, so the noise didn't bother me. The clicking of the pistol and mantis shrimps is actually pretty calming to me. My wife likes it too, she was dozing off last night listening to it :-)

Plus, there is a LARGE amount of crabs in there, and I'm sure he'll eat those. Sitting in my chair I can see 5 crabs within 6 inches.

Updates come slower these days, lol. Ammonia is finally at zero, and nitrites are high high, so we're progressing through the cycle:)

One of the gorgonians is dead, it was the one are wasn't handling any of the stress very well.

I built a trap for the mantis shrimp, and baited it with silversides, but it didn't appear to have a taste for those, so I guess I'll have to look for a different bait.

I tried to set up the ATO, but it almost ended in disaster as a back siphon started and it kept going even after I unplugged it. I ordered another solenoid and an outlet splitter. I figure I'll plug both the solenoid and the Tom's into the outlet splitter, then there will be enough watts on that plug to put it on any EB8 outlet. The watts will make it reliably shut off, and the solenoid will stop any backsiphoning.

Everything else seems to be progressing nicely and all tank inhabitants seem to be healthy and happy:)
